Sonoran Arts is small local artistic company started by me, Lloyd Sharp, an Arizona native in January of 2021. I work with my high school friend of nearly thirty years, Matt Bell to do what we love, building stuff in our shop!

I grew up in a family of mechanics, and my mom’s cousin owned and ran Baily Brake here in Mesa for decades. Throughout my youth I specialized in art. I would draw and paint a variety of things. My dream as a young adult was to become a graphic artist. Life however, had other plans. I worked all sorts of hands-on jobs as a young adult. I did framing, concrete, electrical work, etc. While doing this I taught myself how to make websites, do computer graphics, 3D print and work with wood.

I love to learning to make things from scratch, and I take every opportunity to do so, even now. It has given me a wide variety of skills to create almost anything I want. Today I work as a fire inspector and investigator for the Mesa Fire Department. My team there are truly the greatest people I have ever had the honor of working with.

Matt and I graduated from Apache Junction High in 1996. Matt went on to specialize in software automation. For years he worked at a local mine automating the equipment there. Like me, Matt has grown up locally and loves to make things from scratch. He has spent years learning how to make guitars, drums, and various other items. He is an accomplished mechanic, tinkerer and engineer.

We love our day jobs and we love building things in our shop. To us this business is a great way to work with the community we have been part of all our lives and earn a little extra on the side, while tending to the hobbies we love.

Truth is we have been making things for years for our family and friends and figured why not take the next step!

Sonoran Arts is known for its love of America and support for the small business community. We believe this is the life blood of American exceptionalism. We proudly support our troops, first responders, family and faith.

We take pride in our items and are humbled to have them in your home. We hope you enjoy what we make you as much as we enjoyed making it! If you have any questions or custom design needs don’t be afraid to reach out to us.
